Buying a home in today’s real estate market should be an easy decision. Interest rates are at historic lows, inventory of homes on the market continues to be good, home prices have come down and there is an $8,000 Home Buyers Credit for first-time homebuyers. But for many, the uncertainty of the economy – particularly the stability of employment – has kept potential homebuyers on the sidelines.
“Everything seems to be in place, making it a great time for homebuyers,” says Joseph A. Horning, president of Shorewest, Realtors®. “Everything but one thing — job security. That’s why we’re pleased to introduce Shorewest’s new Job Loss Protection Program. The program helps cover the mortgage if the buyer suddenly looses his or her job. It’s another first in Wisconsin real estate by Shorewest.”
Job Loss Protection Program
The Job Loss Protection Program is an optional, seller-funded mortgage protection program the helps homeowners with monthly mortgage payments if they experience a loss of employment. The Program is part of the the Rainy Day Foundation’s HELP Program (Homeowner Education and Loan Protection) program.
“The Program offers uncertain buyers a unique value proposition: a guarantee that their mortgage payment, up to $1,800, will be covered for up to six months in the event of an job loss during the first 24 months following closing on a home,” adds Horning. “The Program also benefits sellers by setting the seller’s home apart from others on the market with an added value.”
The Job Loss Protection Program is available through certified Shorewest, Realtors® sales associates. Properties with Job Loss Protection are identified by a special “JL” icon on the company’s Web site, shorewest.com. A buyer working with a certified Shorewest agent may also be able to get the protection on another company’s listing with the help of the Shorewest agent.
